Phonak Lyric - The 100% Invisible Hearing Aid

Lyric is the only 100% invisible hearing aid that is worn 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for months at a time. Lyric is inserted deep into the ear canal, approximately 4mm from the eardrum, by a specially trained and Lyric Certified clinician. Its placement in the ear canal is right where sound is captured, so that sound is restored in the most natural way possible. Its deep placement also means that Lyric is invisible to others, so you can enjoy discreet, clear, and natural hearing 24/7.

Lyric is worn for daily activities such as exercising, showering, and sleeping. There is no battery to change, nor any regular insertion or removal, so managing the device is simple. Once the Lyric battery stops working, the device is replaced. Lyric is innovative, efficient, and convenient.

Lyric is designed for individuals with mild to moderately-severe hearing losses. At your initial Lyric candidacy appointment, your Lyric Specialist will assess your hearing loss, ear size and shape, lifestyle, and medical history to determine whether Lyric is suitable for you.

At Hearing & Audiology, you can trial Lyric risk-free for 30 days. There will be a fee involved for your initial consultation where your hearing is assessed, your candidacy is determined, and your Lyric devices are programmed to your hearing level.

To book your risk-free 30 day Lyric trial or to find out more, call us today on (08) 9388 8003.

Invisible-in-Canal Hearing Aids

Inivisible-in-canal (IIC) hearing devices are custom made devices which sit deep in the ear. They are ‘daily-wear’ devices, meaning that the wearer can insert and remove them daily as needed.

IIC devices are ‘set and forget’ – they rarely have any on-board push button or user controls, and this is to keep the device as small as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Lyric

Lyric is the first and only 100% invisible extended wear hearing device. Lyric is comfortably placed in the ear canal by a certified Audiologist, and can be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for months at a time.*

Unlike many other models, Lyric is positioned completely inside the ear canal, and it uses the ear’s anatomy to provide natural sound quality.

100% INVISIBLE

  • Placed completely in the ear canal, Lyric is totally invisible.
  • Only the patient will know why he/she is hearing better.

EFFORTLESS HEARING, 24/7

  • Lyric can be worn during everyday activities, such as exercising, showering, and sleeping.
  • There are no batteries to change, no daily maintenance, and no daily insertion or removal.

NATURAL SOUND QUALITY

  • Lyric delivers exceptional sound quality.
  • Lyric uses the outer ear to naturally direct sound into the ear canal without the need for multiple channels or settings.

Lyric is comfortably placed in the ear canal by a certified Audiologist. No surgery or anaesthesia is required.

Once placed, Lyric is 100% invisible, worn continuously for months at a time, and uses the ear’s natural anatomy to deliver exceptional sound quality.

Lyric is programmed for each individual’s specific hearing loss, and clients can adjust the volume of the device as needed.

Lyric is designed for people with mild to moderately-severe hearing loss. Hearing & Audiology will assess the candidate’s hearing loss, ear size and shape, medical conditions, and lifestyle. The Audiologist will then determine if Lyric is appropriate.

Lyric is not a surgically implanted device. Lyric is carefully inserted into the ear canal by a certified Audiologist. No anaesthesia is required. The sizing and fitting process for Lyric takes 30-60 minutes.

Lyric can be self-removed if necessary. Clients are provided with a removal tool, and instruction on how to do so safely.

Lyric can be worn for months at a time. How long the device lasts depends on factors such as the wearer’s hearing loss, medical history, and environmental factors such as humidity.

The exterior of Lyric is made of a soft material specifically designed to contour to the ear canal. This soft exterior helps make Lyric comfortable to wear. When inserted to the appropriate position, the wearer should have no awareness of the device. Initially, there can be an adjustment period lasting anywhere between 7 and 14 days.

Lyric is not waterproof, so swimming is not recommended. Lyric is water-resistant, so showering is okay. It is recommended to wear earplugs while showering.

Lyric is an FDA approved device and has been extensively studied in hundreds of clinical research patients since 2001. Lyric was commercially launched in 2007, and has been safely worn by thousands of people globally.

Lyric is a subscription based model, with the option to pay monthly or annually. The cost of the Lyric subscription includes the Lyric devices, follow-up service and appointments, complimentary upgrades in Lyric technology as it becomes available, and a SoundLync tool.

There is a fee for your initial hearing assessment. There is also a fee for the 30 day risk-free Lyric trial. Call 9388 8003 to find out more.

External headphones and external hearing protection can be used. Care should be taken when using wireless earbuds as they may dislodge the Lyric device.

Lyric must be removed before you have an MRI. Unlike an MRI, an X-ray or CT scan will not damage or dislodge the device because a magnet is not used. You should inform your Doctor and/or technician about the Lyric device. If an X-ray or CT scan of the ear or head is needed, the device may need to be removed. Let your Doctor know that you are wearing Lyric if you are having surgery or a medical procedure of any kind.

Yes. It is safe to fly while wearing Lyric.

No. Lyric’s metal components are too small to set off metal detectors.

A certified Audiologist will remove your old Lyric device and check the health of your ear canal before re-inserting a new device. Self-replacement is an option for clients who have worn Lyric successfully for at least six months. Self-replacement is only recommended once appropriate training and instruction has been provided by your Audiologist.

Yes, one of the benefits of Lyric’s placement is that it can be worn while talking on your mobile or home phone. In fact, Lyric can be worn during everyday activities such as sleeping, showering, and exercising.

Lyric is designed for individuals with a mild to moderately-severe hearing loss. Find out if Lyric is right for you by booking a consultation with Hearing & Audiology.
