Funding Programs & Rebates for Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are a big investment, but they are one of the most cost-effective ways of improving and maintaining your health and quality of life. There is now a lot of research linking untreated hearing loss to cognitive decline, and using hearing aids is one of the best ways to help maintain cognition and improve overall quality of life.
If you need hearing aids, you may be eligible for a rebate under the following programs:
- The Hearing Services Program for eligible Australian Pensioners and Veterans
- Private Health Insurance
- National Disability Insurance Scheme
- WorkCover WA
The Government's Hearing Services Program
If you are an Australian Pensioner (receiving an Australian Pension) or an Australian Veteran, you may be eligible for free hearing services, including free hearing aids, under the Hearing Services Program (HSP). Hearing and Audiology can provide you with these free services. Applying is quick and easy. To check whether you are eligible to receive free services through HSP, call us on 9388 8003 with your pension card details, and we can find out for you.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for a rebate on hearing aids. Please contact your health fund directly to see if you qualify for any rebates. No matter what health fund you are with, you can still see Hearing and Audiology, and as long as your insurance covers hearing aids, you are eligible for that rebate. We recommend calling your health insurer before you see us, so you know whether you are covered and for how much.
WorkCover WA and Worker’s Compensation Claims
At Hearing & Audiology, we are registered with WorkCover WA to provide Noise Induced Hearing Loss assessments. If you work in a noisy environment, you should have your hearing assessed every two years to ensure that your hearing is not being affected by your work. If you wish to have a Noise Induced Hearing Loss assessment, you should contact your employer to organise this.
