Hearing loss can affect anyone, at any age. Visit Hearing & Audiology for your comprehensive hearing test, and to explore your tailored treatment options.
A hearing test shouldn’t take a ‘one size fits all’ approach. At Hearing & Audiology, we listen to our clients and provide an assessment based on their needs. We assess the specific conditions of your hearing, and offer the most appropriate treatment options to improve your quality of life.
With clinics located in Perth and Geraldton, our clinicians are fully qualified to ensure that every client feels comfortable and receives exceptional care. We use the latest diagnostic technology in a calibrated soundproof booth to ensure accurate and reliable results. At Hearing And Audiology, we offer a comprehensive range of adult hearing tests, including:
How Does an Adult Hearing Test Work?
Our comprehensive assessment examines the outer, middle, and inner ear to provide an overall picture of your ear health. We use a range of diagnostic equipment to assess your ear’s health, the severity of your hearing loss, as well as the type of hearing loss (i.e. conductive, sensorineural or mixed).
A standard hearing test for adults includes four main components: otoscopy, tympanometry, audiometry (pure tone and speech), and a discussion about the results and recommendations.
Outer Ear Testing (Otoscopy): Using an otoscope, we look inside the ear canal. This torch-like instrument allows us to check for blockages e.g. wax or ear infections.
Middle Ear Testing (Tympanometry): We test the middle ear by blowing a small puff of air into the ear canal. This allows us to test whether the eardrum and middle ear bones are working well.
Inner & Middle Ear Testing (Audiometry): We play a series of different pitched sounds through headphones to establish the quietest sounds you can hear. We then use a bone conductor to check nerve function.
We always take a holistic approach. We establish your hearing challenges, then deliver custom treatment options that take into account your lifestyle and listening needs.
What Happens After My Hearing Test?
Once your hearing test is complete, the Audiologist will explain the results and answer any questions that you have. Recommendations will then be made, which are based on your results, your lifestyle, and your listening needs. A detailed report will then be sent to your Doctor.
