Hearing Tests, Tinnitus and Hearing Aids FAQ

Do I need a referral to see an audiologist?

No referral is required. You can book an appointment directly with us. However, if you have a referral from your GP or specialist, please bring it along to your appointment.

What happens during a hearing test?

Your appointment includes a full hearing assessment, a discussion about your hearing concerns and lifestyle, and clear explanations of your results. We take the time to ensure you understand what’s happening and what your options are—without pressure.

How long does a hearing assessment take?

A comprehensive hearing assessment typically takes between 45–60 minutes, allowing enough time for testing, explanation, and questions.

How often should I have my hearing checked?

We recommend adults have their hearing checked every 2–3 years, or sooner if you notice changes such as difficulty hearing conversations, ringing in the ears, or frequently asking others to repeat themselves. If you have a diagnosed hearing loss then an annual check up is recommended.

Do you work with NDIS, DVA, and pensioner services?

Yes. We support clients through NDIS, Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), and eligible pensioner programs. Our team can guide you through the process and help you understand what support you may be entitled to.

Will I be pressured to buy hearing aids?

Absolutely not. Our focus is on care, education, and what’s right for you. If hearing aids are recommended, we’ll explain why, discuss options, and give you time to decide.

What types of hearing aids do you offer?

We offer a wide range of modern hearing solutions, including discreet, rechargeable, Bluetooth-enabled devices from leading manufacturers. Recommendations are always based on your hearing needs, lifestyle, and budget.

Can I try hearing aids before committing?

Yes. In many cases, we offer trial periods, allowing you to experience the benefits before making a final decision. We’ll explain the trial process during your appointment.

Do you provide follow-up care and support?

Yes. Ongoing care is an essential part of hearing health. We offer follow-ups, adjustments, servicing, and education to ensure your devices continue to work well for you.

I hear but don’t always understand—can you help with that?

Yes. Hearing clarity, especially in noise, is a common concern. A hearing assessment can help identify the cause and determine whether hearing aids or other strategies may help improve understanding.

Where are you located and how do I book?

Hearing & Audiology WA has clinics conveniently located across Perth and regional Western Australia, including Subiaco, Manning, Duncraig, Geraldton, and Karratha. You can book online, call our clinic, or request a call-back, and our friendly team will assist you in finding the location and appointment time that best suits you.
